News

OpenAI just released SearchGPT, a search engine.

OpenAI's latest move in the AI race.

SearchGPT aims to make search 'more natural, intuitive.'

On the other side of the fence though, Google's parent company, Alphabet, took a whopping 3% tumble, whacking billions off its valuation.

Me however, on a whim, I decided to buy a couple of misspellings of the domain “SearchGPT.com”. At £10 a pop, I thought it might be interesting to see what kind of traffic hits these! I'll let you know in later issues if it turns out to be meaningful...

Here’s the domains I bought:

Here’s the link to the actual SearchGPT so you can take a peek.

And, here's a link to a video breaking down the release.

Story

The Billion-Dollar Business of Disappearing

NordVPN: Born in Lithuania, raised in Panama, and now hiding your data in 59 countries.

The story started in 2012 when a couple of mates decided privacy needed to be taken seriously.

But, in 2019, Russia told NordVPN: 'Join our censorship registry or else!' NordVPN's response? They shut down Russian servers faster than you can say 'nyet.'

Here's the story.

Lakera raises $20M to shield companies from LLM security threats

News: Worried about prompt injections in your LLMs? Swiss startup Lakera secures $20M Series A to combat AI security threats. Their tech protects generative AI apps from malicious prompts and data leaks.

My take: Alright, I’m only really interested in the fact they built a game where you have to trick Gandalf into giving you his password. Nice little marketing hack, to try and show off the software with a fun game.

How to create a full note-taking web app in 4.5 hours (without coding)

So I spotted this dude on Twitter (sorry, X…).

He figured out how to use Claude 3.5 to recreate a full note-taking app WITH A BACK-END.

Oh, and did I mention he did it without coding?

He even got it set up with Firebase for the back-end, which he'd never even heard of before (me neither…).

Here’s the video where he shows you how he did it.
